Participant Code of Conduct

Adopted 9/1/2026

Purpose. AZEFT trainings involve experiential exercises, live clinical demonstration, and personal disclosure by participants and by real clients. A learning environment in which every attendee can participate safely is a condition of the training itself. These standards apply to every attendee, including registered participants, volunteers, trainers, board members, staff, and any guest. They are applied uniformly and without regard to any attendee’s race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Expected conduct. Every attendee will:

  1. Treat all attendees, trainers, volunteers, staff, and venue personnel with courtesy, respect, and civility.
  2. Participate in a manner that supports a safe and productive learning environment.
  3. Follow the reasonable directions, instructions, and policies communicated by trainers, leadership, and event coordinators.
  4. Refrain from behavior that is disruptive, threatening, intimidating, harassing, discriminatory, abusive, or otherwise interferes with the learning experience of others.
  5. Refrain from comments to or about another attendee’s body, appearance, attire, or protected characteristics.
  6. Maintain the confidentiality of all clinical material, live demonstrations, and personal disclosures made by others.
  7. Attend as a registered participant only. Guests, observers, auditors, and companions are not permitted in the training space.

Enforcement. AZEFT may respond to conduct inconsistent with this Code by private redirection, a verbal or written warning, exclusion from a portion of the training, removal from the event, or exclusion from future AZEFT events. AZEFT is not required to issue a warning before removing an attendee, and may remove an attendee without prior warning where the conduct is serious or where prior redirection has not resolved the concern.

Refunds. Removal from an event does not entitle a participant to a refund. Any refunds issued are within AZEFT’s sole discretion. AZEFT is not liable for travel, lodging, lost time, continuing education credit, or any other cost or consequential damage arising from a removal or a declined registration.

Acknowledgment. Registration for an AZEFT event constitutes acceptance of this Code.

Admission and Removal Policy

Adopted by resolution of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Community for Emotionally Focused Therapy on August 31st, 2026.

  1. Authority. Under Article III, Section 1 of the AZEFT Bylaws, the Board of Directors governs the business, affairs, and legal acts of the Corporation. This Policy is adopted under that authority. It governs admission to AZEFT events and is separate from, and does not modify, the membership provisions at Article II of the Bylaws.
  2. Eligibility is necessary but not sufficient. Article XIII, Section 10 of the Bylaws identifies the categories of persons eligible to attend AZEFT training events. Meeting those criteria establishes eligibility only. It does not entitle any person to admission to any AZEFT event, and it does not create a right to register, to attend, or to remain.
  3. Registration is an offer. A submitted registration is an offer to attend. It is not accepted until AZEFT confirms acceptance in writing. Payment does not constitute acceptance.
  4. Right to decline or revoke. AZEFT may decline any registration, or revoke a previously confirmed registration, at any time before or during an event, where the Board or its designee determines that the person’s participation would be inconsistent with the Participant Code of Conduct or would materially interfere with the conduct of the training. Grounds include conduct at a prior AZEFT event, conduct at an event hosted by another organization where AZEFT has a reasonable basis to credit the report, and conduct in communications with AZEFT.
  5. Neutral application. AZEFT does not decline, revoke, or remove on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. Decisions under this Policy are based on conduct.
  6. Decision-making. A decision to decline or revoke a registration in advance of an event requires approval of the Board or of a committee the Board designates, which may act by written consent under Article III, Section 14. Each such decision will be recorded in the minutes together with the conduct on which it is based. A decision to remove an attendee during an event may be made on the spot by the event host or the Board member designated for that event, and will be documented in writing within three business days.
  7. Statement of reasons. Where AZEFT declines or revokes a registration in advance, AZEFT will provide a written statement identifying the conduct standards at issue. AZEFT is not required to identify individual complainants, produce underlying reports or witness statements, or provide records of any other organization.
  8. No hearing right. Admission to an AZEFT event is a discretionary contractual decision. The notice and hearing procedure at Article II, Section 7 of the Bylaws applies to termination or suspension of membership and does not apply to decisions under this Policy.
  9. Exclusive remedy. A refund of amounts paid to AZEFT, in full or on a pro rata basis at AZEFT’s discretion, is the sole and exclusive remedy for a declined registration, a revoked registration, or a removal.
  10. Duration and reconsideration. An exclusion from future AZEFT events remains in effect until AZEFT notifies the person otherwise in writing. A person subject to an exclusion may submit a written request for reconsideration to the Board President no earlier than twelve months after the date of the exclusion notice. Reconsideration is at the Board’s sole discretion, and the Board is not required to grant a hearing or state reasons for declining a request.
  11. Trespass notice. Where a person subject to an exclusion has been given written notice under this Policy, that notice serves as notice prohibiting entry under A.R.S. § 13-1502. AZEFT will provide a copy of any such notice to the venue of any affected event.
  12. Records. AZEFT will retain records of decisions under this Policy, including the written statement of reasons and any incident documentation, for not less than six years.

We look forward to empowering you!
