Core Skills Training: Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

Take the next step in your journey toward EFT certification with EFCT Core Skills, an intensive training designed to deepen your expertise in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples.
This Core Skills training is open to mental health professionals who have completed the EFCT Externship and are ready to refine their skills through in-depth instruction, hands-on practice, and individualized feedback. Arizona In Person Core Skills is a series of four intensive, two-day trainings with a small group of clinicians designed to deepen your practice of Emotionally Focused Therapy. Each session focuses on specific EFT steps and stages and includes:
- Instruction by certified EFT trainer
- Live case consultations
- Experiential exercises
- Small group supervision
This training follows the standards set by the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). Completion of an EFT Externship is required to attend. Core Skills Training hours may be applied toward ICEEFT certification.
Audience: This training is ideal for psychologists, counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals who are actively working with couples and seeking to strengthen their EFT skills. Participants must be members of a mental health professional organization.We welcome therapists at all developmental professional development whether you’re a student, associate, or independently licensed clinician.
Training Schedule & Topics

Each session runs from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Participants must attend all four weekends. Group size is limited to 16.
Session 1 – October 16-17, 2025
Steps 1–3: Assessment
Session 2 – November 13–14, 2025
Steps 3–4: De-escalation
Session 3 – January 15–16, 2026
Steps 5–7: Withdrawer Re-engagement
Session 4 – February 12–13, 2026
Steps 5–7: Pursuer Softening
Case Presentation Requirement
To receive a Certificate of Completion, each participant is required to present a 10-minute video case during one of the four weekends.

Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations made 30+ days before the event are refundable minus a $100 admin fee.
- After that, fees are non-refundable.
- You may defer your registration to the next AzEFT Core Skills series within one year.
